Hello everyone I am new to your forum and so far I like what I have seen.
I live in North Louisiana with a deer population for around 12 to 15 deer per acre our bucks have small racks for the most part and they do not have to travel far to find does. But the deer are highly pressured when season is going. The deer move at night mostly and bed down in the thickest stuff.
Baiting is legal and most everyone here feeds year round corn rice bran and various food plots of rye grass, oats, wheat and black eyed peas. You can forget about a garden unless it looks like a state prison.
So I have turned to stalking as a means of getting to my 4 and 5 year old bucks that I am seeing on the game cameras.
I have a hard time with this so I am seeking advice from Deerhead on this subject, and anyone else that has experience with this type of hunting. I hunt a few different locations over rye grass hay fields and small wood lots and some very thick clear cuts where you are lucky to have a shot at 10 yards. I have a valley and a Ridge of mature oaks that I try to hunt but the deer have the advantage because the wind is blowing to them 80% of the time on that ridge. Then the Leaves sound off the other 20% when the wind seems to be right.
I would like to get any input on this subject. Our deer season ends January 31st.
Please tell me anything you can in regards to this subject.
Sincerely, Kevin
